
Prime Bank Elects New Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee
The Board of Directors of Prime Bank Limited in its 363rd Meeting held on May 30, 2011 unanimously elected Mr. Md. Shirajul Islam Mollah as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Bank for the next term of two years effective from June 01, 2011 to May 31, 2013; while Mr. Tanjil Chowdhury was elected as the Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee for the same period.
Md. Shirajul Islam Mollah, Chairman, Executive Committee: A renowned businessman, Mr. Mollah is the Managing Director of China-Bangla Ceramic Industries Ltd., Bajnabo Textile Mills Ltd., Bengal Tiger Cement Industries Ltd. and United Shipping Lines Ltd.
A member of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), Mr. Mollah was the Executive Committee Chairman of Prime Bank during 2003-04. He is a Sponsor Director of Prime Bank Limited.
He is the founder president of Bajnabo Abul Faiz Mollah High School. He was also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of The People's University of Bangladesh.
Tanjil Chowdhury, Vice Chairman, Executive Committee: Mr. Tanjil Chowdhury, being 27 years and 1 month, is the youngest director of Prime Bank Limited. He is the managing director of East Coast Group of companies, a diversified conglomerate with primary focus on Oil, Energy and Shipping.
Mr. Chowdhury did his BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance, before completing MSc in International Management (Finance), from King's College London, University of London. At University, Mr. Chowdhury was very active in King's College Business Society, promoting entrepreneurial drive among young graduates and was also involved in creating awareness for Fair Trade and Organic goods. He is a regular guest speaker at American International University Bangladesh (AIUB), Faculty of Business Administration, giving seminars and lectures on Financial Derivatives and Investment Management to BBA/MBA students.
Mr. Chowdhury is also an active member of BBC Film Society. He is also a keen golfer and has won the 'Front Nine Winner' award in Transcom Cup in 2009/2010 season, his current handicap is 21.
